week 24- The Beginning at the End

Amazing to think that 24 weeks ago I started on this journey of self discovery…NOT self help but discovering for myself the answers to some questions about life.  I think we all ask ourselves these questions at some point in our lives.  My wife likes to call it my “midlife crisis” but I think everyone experiences it for different reasons, it’s just a matter of where that takes us in our life.

As Haanel wraps up The Master Key, he asks us to look at things differently, change our perspective of how we view the world through our 5 senses.  What is sound or light?  They are vibrations that we perceive as light and sound.  So the sound is not in the radio, it is in our mind.  If someone has had a head injury  or a stroke the sound coming out of the radio is not different but it is perceived differently by that person.  The light from the sun is nothing more than energy made into vibrations called light waves, change the rate of the vibration and the color we perceive is different. “so that although we speak of the rose as being red, the grass as being green, or the sky as being blue, we know that the colors exist only in our minds, and are the sensations experienced by us as the result of the vibrations of light waves.” If someone is color blind it’s not that the grass isn’t green or the rose isn’t red, it’s just perceived differently by that person…as shades of gray.  Therefore, everything comes from within…The TRUTH is inside us, but where inside us?  That is what we have to discover for ourselves, no one can do it for us.  Our Spirit, that energy that makes us who we are contains everything we need to know and the only way to discover it is to “go into the silence” of our mind. Haanel gives us this simple direction but one that only a few people can grasp…”remember that no matter what the difficulty is, no matter where it is, no matter who is affected, you have no patient but yourself; you have nothing to do but to convince yourself of the truth which you desire to see manifested.”

This was the first video that came up on Youtube….coincident…No, thank you universal mind!

“Truth manifests in character, and the character of man, should be the interpretation of his religion, or what to him is Truth, and this will in turn be evidenced in the character of his possession.”  Our future is determined by our present circumstances and if we don’t like what we see or we want to change where our life is going we just have to look within to find the cause thus changing the effect or what is manifesting in our life.

The spirit only has one power, to think.  Haanel ends the Master Key with these two statements…”therefore, thought must be creative, because spirit is creative. This creative power is impersonal and your ability to think is your ability to control it and make use of it for the benefit of yourself and others.”  “When the TRUTH of that statement is realized, understood, and appreciated, you will have come into possession of The Master-Key, but remember that only those who are wise enough to understand, broad enough to weigh the evidence, firm enough to follow their own judgement, and strong enough to make the sacrifice exacted, may enter and partake.”The-meaning-of-life

Week 23- CHIPPER!

The law of success is Service!  That has a lot of different meanings for me.  I want to help others but I want to please everyone.  By trying so hard to help people and get my needs met, I have a tendency to neglect the people closest to me.  That is where the Chipper comes in….

Chipper (adj):

  • Having a cheerful, lively, and self-confident air…
  • A type of workout in crossfit that is a series of movements where a certain number of one movement has to be completed before you can begin the next one

This term has both of these meanings for me but it also defines how I have been approaching the things I want to change in life.  I am chipping away at  the things I don’t like about my life and replacing those thoughts and habits with behaviors that I want my children to have and the things I want to manifest in my life.  I don’t have anything to compare this to but the description of how to attack a chipper workout rings in my head…”Just do it one movement at a time and keep moving while you chip away until you finish the movement”.  Everyone finishes a Chipper at different times…mine is in progress as I chip away at the life I want.

This is fittest man on earth Rich Froning working through a Chipper workout on his way to winning the 2012 crossfit games:

A Chipper requires constant effort, hard work,  determination, and the will to win!  I have a similar attitude in life but I just have to balance my life to achieve the results.  As I seek this balance I am inspired by this statement from Haanel, “It is inevitable that the entertainment of positive, constructive and unselfish thoughts should have a far-reaching effect for good.”

I continue to chip away at my selfish, unproductive thoughts and actions so that I can strike an equilibrium in my life. I am doing this with a cheerful, lively, self-confident way and I get what I give.

Week 22A- Challenge…Your Choice?

We are becoming self-directed in both the Master Key Experience and our future life.  Our latest assignment was to “go into the silence” for 2-3 days.  Interestingly I met this with a tremendous amount of resistance.  I discovered every reason why I couldn’t take even one full day…24 hrs to be silent with only my thoughts.  Am I really that important that I couldn’t take one full day with no communication either through talking, texting, e-mail, or T.V.?

I DO think this exercise would be  valuable  for both self discovery and clarity but …oh there is that excuse again.  Of course I’m pretending not to know that I’m making up excuses because it’s out of my comfort zone.  Why do all of us balk at doing something different even if it could make our lives better..Because it’s change, it’s out of our routine and that makes us feel scared, anxious, and  unsure about our abilities.  Most of us don’t like being challenged…I mean truly challenged whether it’s physical, mental, spiritual, or emotional.  I would like to say I welcome a challenge….but (there is that word again) it has to fit into my life or I at least need to perceive that it fits into my life.  That is one of the oldest excuses in the book. It wouldn’t be challenging and it wouldn’t change us or mold us into who we are if it didn’t take us out of our comfort zone.  Think of all the challenges you have had in your life….Did you truly relish it at the time or did you focus your abilities, concentrate on the intended outcome and Get through it!  Looking back on the challenge was when you were able to have that sense of accomplishment and that is when your predominant mental attitude decided whether it was a good experience or a bad one.  That is what has shaped your life, that is our past world within as it has manifested in to where we are today.brain

I accept the challenge of Silence because I know it will be an experience I will never forget. It will make me compromise my “comfortable” life but it will also move me towards my goals…and that is all that will matter when I look back on the challenge.  I promise to go into the Silence for 2-3 days…when? TBD? I can guarantee it will be posted and many lessons will be shared…keep you posted!

Week 22- Everybody Poops!

That has always been one of my favorite books and with 3 kids that are 10 and under I have read it many times.  That theme has special meaning this week not only from Haanel’s wisdom but also because my wife, the amazing Jamie (trying that one out), has been spending more time in the doctor’s office this week than at work.  She starting have abdominal pain last week and after 3 doctor’s visits and an ultrasound we still don’t know what’s going on?  We know it’s not her appendix or her gallbladder but can’t rule out the pancreas yet…a visit to a GI doctor coming up next!

Haanel points out that our basic life processes are carried out by taking in nutrients, using what we can and then eliminating them.  If we don’t get rid of all the used up waste material it accumulates and poisons us…autointoxication from the inside out.  Sounds like the world within is again the predictor of our world without.  Fear, worry, anxiety and any other negative emotion are like mental poisons and they start to cause disease and autointoxication of our spirit.  This leads to a slow miserable decline of all life.

How can we influence this process so that we stay healthy and full of vitality?  Eat the right foods, eat a clean healthy diet of whole foods.  Supplement our diets with the best that nature has to offer through a master formulator like Dr. Lindsey Duncan and his simple but profound philosophy that pertains to our whole being of Cleanse, Balance, Build, and Love.  We Cleanse our spirit and body with Love and a positive mental attitude so that we can build up our body and our mind. Once we have complete control of our thoughts and our body, everything is in the realm of possibility.

Haanel makes the comparison of our subconscious processes to the objective mind and our Spirit.  We get an infection or get injured and everything is mobilized subconsciously to heal the wound or fix the bone. The one thing that can get in the way is our objective mind having thoughts of fear, anxiety, or doubt. “Every cell in your body is intelligent and will respond to your direction. The cells are all creators and will create the exact pattern which you give them.”  Haanel gives us this formula:

“Mental therapeutics may be directed by the patient himself to calming the mind in excitement, by arousing feelings of joy, hope, faith, and Love; by suggesting motives for exertion, by regular mental work, by diverting the thoughts from the malady.”

The Universal mind lead me to a few more connections this week….my wife came home the other day and showed me something she bought for the living room…

20140303_184746

I told her the universal mind lead her to that particular piece and how important that word is to me since Mark J is helping me “Believe”.

Last but not least I made a new friend this week as the universal mind lead me to both a new business partner and an important discovery of the lost healing art of Colonics.  I met him to progress my Definite Major Purpose of leading by example through fitness, lifestyle, and how to treat your body, but also so that my wife can cleanse her digestive tract and get healthy naturally.  Right thinking is leading to a manifestation in my life, day by day….

week 21 The POWER of PRAYER

What does Prayer mean?

  • The act of communicating with a deity (especially as a petition or in adoration or contrition or thanksgiving)
  • urgent or earnest request
  • a fixed text used in praying

As I read those definitions I had to look up what a deity is?

  • any supernatural being worshipped as controlling some part of the world or some aspect of life or who is the personification of a force.

That is definitely God, whoever and/or whatever that is to you, but the last part of that interested me…the personification of a force.  What if WE are the force being represented and the POWER of Prayer is and has been in us all along?  The true POWER of Prayer is unleashed when we internalize our beliefs, connect with them on a spiritual and emotional level, and trust that if we believe, they will happen.  Of course that is dependent on some natural laws…the most important being that our prayers must be in line with the greater good to manifest completely.  “our lives are simply the reflection of our predominant thoughts, our mental attitude”  This leads to the discovery that has brought about all other sciences, laws, and discoveries….the science of correct thinking!  The major guiding law that takes precedence and is in direct correlation with correct thinking is the Law of Attraction.  Simply defined by Haanel, “through the action of this law we meet in the world without the experiences which correspond to our world within.” “like attracts like”  Our mental attitude is our personality, it’s our spirit, it’s what makes us who we are and what leads to the experiences with which we meet in life.

“As soon as we become conscious of the inexhaustible power in the world within, we begin to draw on this power and apply and develop the greater possibilities which this discernment has realized, because whatever we become conscious of, is invariably manifested in the objective world, is brought forth into tangible expression.”

This is where the work comes in…and it’s not tangible to the touch type of work because it all happens in our mind.  Some people call it self talk, but it’s the ongoing conversation that is going through our head as we talk to people, figure out problems in our life, perform our jobs, and live our lives.  We think in pictures and once we can visualize those pictures we want, refine them with precision, bring them into focus, and see them as an already accomplished fact…we can create anything for ourselves.   “There is no limit to what this law can do for you; dare to believe in your own idea; remember that Nature is plastic to the ideal; think of the ideal as an already accomplished fact.”

church

As I thought about Prayer this week and I talked to God, I realized I talk about myself, what is of interest to me, what I want to see in my life.   I want to help people and be in service to them but that is for selfish reasons. The true light in life is to be in genuine service to others so I am redirecting my focus to others and what they have going on in their lives, observing, listening, and looking for ways I can help.  Today I got to hug a friend of ours that recently found out her husband has cancer.  I told her I would pray for them and offered whatever service I could be to them.  Now I will have a conversation with God and look for guidance as to how I can help a friend who needs it.

Week 20 Becoming Superman!

When I was a little kid I remember “flying” around the house with my cape on and believing I had super powers…x-ray vision, super strength, and I was invincible!  At some point I was told I couldn’t do all those things and I realized I wasn’t Superman.  I started to fall in line with everyone else, conform to society, and believe that the only choice was, go to school, get a job and work for the next 45 years so I could “retire” after I had contributed to society.  My Kryptonite was Conformity.kryptonite2

With the help of a major life event, I have come to the realization that our environment is  what we make of it through scientific thinking and adherence to some basic principles.  The scientific thinking is simply adhering to natural laws like gravity, electricity and other laws of Physics that are immutable and reliable.  If we follow these laws we can always depend on the results.  The basic principles are simple but not simple to follow, they can be summed up by a variety of different sources from the Bible to Roman Emperors to present day Philosophers…Simply put “We Become what we think about!” “Thought necessarily precedes and predetermines action; action precedes and predetermines condition.”

This is evident in our “Spirit”, it’s what makes us who we are and when someone says, “he is a great guy”, they are talking about our Spirit.  Without Spirit we would be nothing, “It becomes active through your recognition of it and its possibilities.” I have a new definition of what it means to be Superman: “Understanding and commanding the invisible forces instead of letting them command and rule me, Power implies service; Inspiration implies Power.” We can create anything and master it with the Power of thought. “The Power of thought, if understood and correctly used, is the greatest labor-saving device ever dreamed of…because this power is the secret of all inspiration, all genius.”  brain

Now we can live more abundantly with every breath, but we must breathe consciously with intention, “intention governs the attention”.  We will get a supply equal to the demand of our attention.  In this world of multiple stimuli, multitasking, eating/talking on the phone and driving, how can we have attention to anything?  It is something we have to practice…in Silence because inspiration is from within and silence is necessary, once we come into possession of poise and power we “will be ready to receive the information or inspiration or wisdom which may be necessary for the development of our purpose.”fireworks

We are all connected by something  that goes by many different names…whether you call it universal substance, universal mind, or God we were all created by something and we only vary in degree not in kind.   We manifest this in our “Spirit” that gives life to our body. Now there is only one question in our life….What qualities do we want to manifest through our Spirit?  This depends “upon the quality of our thought, because we cannot express powers which we do not possess. We must ‘be’ before we can ‘do’ and we can ‘do’ only to the extent to which we ‘are’, so what we do will necessarily coincide with what we ‘are’ and what we are depends upon what we “think.”

Think wisely…

Week 19- We are what we eat

Everything flows in continuity…things are not separate but parts of one quantity, just varying by degree not in kind.  What an interesting way to perceive things?  This happens in all the aspects of the world:

  • The Physical world “There is a north pole, and a south pole, an inside and an outside, a seen and unseen, but these expressions merely serve to place extremes in contrast.”
  • The Mental world ” we speak of knowledge and ignorance, but ignorance is but a lack of knowledge and is therefore found to be simply a word to express the absence of knowledge, it has no principle in itself.”
  • The Moral world “we speak of good and evil, but Good is a reality, something tangible, while Evil is found to be simply a negative condition, the absence of Good…we know this because Evil can always be destroyed by Good.”
  • The Spiritual world “we speak of Mind and Matter as two separate entities, but clearer insight makes it evident that there is but one operative principle and that is Mind.”  “Mind is the real and the eternal. Matter is forever changing” (think about how your surroundings have changed in your life time?)

“We have then come to know that Mind is the only principle which is operative in the physical, mental, moral and spiritual world.”sunflower

That brings me to think about how this continuity flows….creation to evolution to consumption to death and then the cycle starts all over again.  Everything requires energy of some kind to perform but what is energy?  We can get energy from the sun through our skin but ultimately through our food.  Plants absorb energy from the sun and their nutrients from the ground, they evolve and grow then produce fruit, nuts, seeds, etc…we then consume this produce to fuel our bodies, we put in the right fuel and it produces results that allow us to create, think, and act upon the Universal Mind. Everything eventually dies and is reabsorbed both physically and spiritually.  Continuity from something that we can’t quantify, but it is all around us…”this substance, or ether, or raw material, is universally present” allowing for the cycle of life.nuts and seeds

I recently learned a simple but profound truth to sustaining optimal life…”Eat meat, veggies, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and NO sugar/refined foods.”  We have gotten away from that simple eating plan of how to fuel our bodies and it is destroying us as a population.  When you put something in, what will be the result?  Whether it is positive thought or a healthy food dictates who you are intending to become?

veggies

Whatever fuel we use, the results will be of equal value.  We really are what we eat!

Week 18- ATTENTION!

There are many definitions of ATTENTION:

  • The process whereby a person concentrates on some features of the environment to the (relative) exclusion of others
  • The work of providing treatment for or attending to someone or something
  • A general interest that leads people to want to know more
  • A courteous act indicating affection
  • The faculty or power of mental concentration

We PAY attention to what is most interesting to us or important in our lives.  It’s an interesting thought to say “PAY” attention?  To me that means there is a cost for devoting ourselves to something…our Family, our job, our health, our hobbies! Of course it’s not always a monetary cost…it can be time, energy, possessions, relationships, and ultimately life.

By now we all know that we have to give more to get more and the things we THINK about eventually manifest in our life.  There is always a cost to everything. Something we must give up or “PAY” in order to get something else.  The more attention we give to something the more we think about it, concentrate on it, the more knowledge we acquire about it…that leads to power.  When power is applied to something we have influence over that thing, we have authority to control it whether it’s an object or an idea!  This all leads back to application.  The more knowledge that is acquired the more powerful we can become BUT only if we apply that knowledge to our interests.  Haanel let’s us know that “Power depends upon consciousness of power; unless we use it , we shall lose it, and unless we are conscious of it, we cannot use it.”  We have been given the ultimate POWER, the POWER to think. light bulb

I guess the big question comes down to…How can we be conscious of our POWER?  I think the answer is in all of us.  Whether we know it or not; It’s in our spirit; that thing that gives us vitality and character.  We are constantly attracting to us the things we give attention to…that we are interested in and want to be around.  That makes us who we are, defines our environment, gives meaning to our existence.  WE are what we think and “Thought is the magic by which the human is transformed into a being who thinks and knows and feels and acts.”  That is a lot to process…but just THINK about who you are, who you want to be and live by a simple thought….

What would the person I intend to become do next?

Week 17 HJ- Let’s Review!

Is my subconscious really that powerful? I never thought I could retain something for several weeks or even several months until I re-read all the chapters we have done in the master keys up until now….It was like I already knew the next sentence and it was already processed before I could even think about it. What an affirmation that we are powerful beyond measure and that we are dynamos just waiting to have knowledge applied to life.

In the first 18 weeks I have developed habits including affirming when to get things done…”Do it NOW”, what can I be? “I can be what I WILL to be”, and reading how to be “The Greatest Salesman in the World”(which I will get answered next week).

The most amazing thing about this journey I am on is discovering why I started on it?  I will explain it this way…at some point in our life we decide to go on a journey that requires being a hero?  What does that mean?  A hero is someone who is distinguished by exceptional courage, nobility, and strength.  Everyone goes on this journey for different reasons and to accomplish different objectives.  Something calls us to this journey and it’s usually a major life event like divorce, someone’s death, or alteration of an ideal we live by!  For me it was the death of my best friend, my dad. Brant2012&2013 008 It made me think a lot about my life…where am I going in life?  What am I suppose to do with my life?  Am I going to end up like my dad?…Work my whole life and then get sick to only die at my desk?  I heard the call and now I’m trying to see where this journey is going to take me….when am I going to return a HERO?

I will let you know when I get there…

Week 17 Concentrate and Play the Part!

He has amazing concentration to block out the crowd and still perform at his best…What is CONCENTRATION….what does that mean?  Complete attention; Intense mental effort?  According to Haanel, “Concentration is much misunderstood; there seems to be an idea of effort or activity associated with it, when just the contrary is necessary. The greatness of an actor lies in the fact that he forgets himself in the portrayal of his character, becoming so identified  with it, that the audience is swayed by the realism of the performance.”   That is what we are doing in our lives everyday.  Presenting the perfect performance to ourselves, we are the audience, once we get so identified with the realism of our performance, we start to believe.  The images you feed your subconscious are the “visible fulcrums” you use to sway the most important audience which you will ever perform to…yourself.

Haanel speaks of action because knowledge does not apply itself:

Concentration does not mean mere thinking of thoughts, but the transmutation of these thoughts into practical values”

The law of Practice and the 5 P’s (Perfect Practice Provides Perfect Presentation) because who do we need to make that perfect presentation to…

“Weakness is the only barrier to mental attainment; ease and perfection are gained by repetition.”

The missing element…EMOTION, in the form of LOVE, what is our ultimate DESIRE?

“All mental discovery and attainment are the result of desire plus concentration, desire is the strongest mode of action, the more persistent the desire, the more authoritative the revelation. Desire added to concentration will wrench any secret from nature.”

How do we develop intuition?

Concentration simply implies that consciousness can be focalized to the point where it becomes identified with the object of its attention. If you concentrate on some matter of importance, the intuitive power will be set in operation, and help will come in the nature of information which will lead to success.”

Where can we find Intuition?

“Intuition usually comes in the Silence; great minds seek solitude frequently; it is here that all the larger problems of life are worked out.”

These were some of the thoughts and questions I had as I read this week. Once I can Concentrate on the Ideal as an already existing fact, when I can provide the performance of my life, convince the audience of 1 that I am that character, I am swayed by the realism of my performance, I will know my performance was perfect.
